Does every life matter?
Does God quicken each soul?
If yes, then why despair
The death of one so close?
Father hear my unrequited cries,
Feel the sadness in my heart
One whose life meant much to me
Far away, has been given a new start.
Yes, for him it is a joy
One of promise delivered.
For those who loved him and remain here
The tears flow like a river.
His absence has left an empty place
One that no other can fill.
Trusting in you to protect him now
I can only accept your will.
But tell me, Lord, why was he here?
Was there reason for departing so young?
In such a short span he touched many lives
And of those numbers I'm proud to be one.
I can only guess how his presence
No matter how quickly it ended
Somehow fulfilled a greater plan
The life for him you intended.
Some day I'll know that purpose
Whether revealed here or there.
